After months of speculation, Sir Alex Ferguson et al have decided to relinquish the golden boy!
Manchester Unitedhave announced that they have accepted an £80 million pound bid for Christiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid have been named as the offering club and have now confirmed they are the notorious bidders. Recently acquiring Kaka’ from AC Milan, Madrid are proving that the credit crunch simply doesn’t apply in football. If Madrid do take Ronaldo to the Bernabeu, they will have spent over £120 million pounds within a week!
Madrid will have to pay a £26m penalty clause to Ronaldo as a consequence of an alleged “pre-contract” arrangement that had been agreed with the player’s representative Jorge Mendes, if the Spanish club did not sign him this summer. So the transfer is almost a done deal before Ronaldo or Real ever discuss the contract.
